Muckraking "journalism" at it's finest...
But I'll give her a tiny little bit of props for actually allowing some anti-Nikki comments to post. I especially liked this gem, which completely sums up my feelings about DHD:
You probably won’t post this and that’s a shame. But I’ll comment anyway, futile as it may be. I come from a family of instigators, where someone will say to someone else that so-and-so said this awful thing about them, fueling anger and resentment on both sides. Most of the time, these gossiping family members think they’re “doing a good deed for the greater good of the family”, when in fact, they’re simply creating an atagonistic environment. What they really must do instead is: let people resolve issues amongst themselves. And that’s what you need to do with the strike. By posting your “shitty DGA deal” comment, you’re again fanning of the fires of radicalism. Which is what this strike has become. A radical, irrational shit-throwing war. Rational people in the WGA are muzzled by louder, angrier and bitter people in the WGA. Notice how progress was made in your absence, without your snarky editorials. Bottom line: you’re not really in the movie and TV biz, Nikki, you just report on it, yet inexplicably your comments can arguably iffluence the position of many people who are actually WORKERS in this town. Look, you do some very good reporting, but right now, you’re getting involved in something you shouldn’t be getting involved in by fanning the flames. So use your power wisely. I know you try to, but at times, like today, you do nothing but make a bad situation worse. Just like people in my family do. I see it all the time and believe me, people like you do no one any good.

"Rational Thinker" is my hero!
Beautifully, put.
Yeah "Rational Thinker" nailed it with that one. Of course no suprise there were somany "welcome back, we missed you", ass kisses to her too. My posts did not appear for some reason.....technical glitch?
Nikki makes Rush Limbaugh look like a moderate when it come to stirring it up.
I especially like "Rational people in the WGA are muzzled by louder, angrier and bitter people in the WGA."
Felt real good to read that. It helps me keep the faith that the rational ones can end this thing.

As I said in the other thread, this has been typical behavior by Nikki Finke. I get the feeling that she's trying to extend this strike with this behavior. I hope that people will remember this stuff when we're back at work and she tries to peddle the inevitable book about the strike, or when she tries to present herself as a reliable journalist in the future.
As a reminder, I note that in the middle of this situation she has repeatedly published rumors and gossip that have served to do nothing but anger and upset people for no reason. In one case, she was duped by an email hoax and wound up angering a bunch of WGA members who went looking for the phantom "A List" screenwriter cabal that didn't exist.
I'll give her that she's occasionally correct - maybe 20 percent of the time. She was correct about the musical chairs inside Paramount. She was correct about Warner Bros. going Blu-ray. And she was the first one to publish the silliness over the chairs in the negotiation room at the WGA. But that doesn't get her off the hook for the other thousand times she's repeated innuendo and nastiness, or put such a vicious spin on what information she did have that it was hard to read it.
Finke warns readers to express themselves "intelligently", yet she titles her entry "shitty DGA deal". Pot, meet kettle.
I think she needs a longer hiatus.
And an editor.
She's now offering to post "DGA Analyses", along with something about the Oscars. But she couldn't resist the dig about "we don't know if there'll even be a real Oscars". If you weren't paying attention, that was a backhanded slap at Gil Cates and a wink and a nod about picket lines crashing the ceremony.
One real reason I have to hope this strike will end soon is that it will end most of the rumor-mongering she's been doing. On the other hand, when the strike does end, she may also just begin trying to fan the flames of a possible SAG strike, as she did with this one.
Heh Heh....Shitty Finke....
Sorry, I just couldn't think of an "intelligent" response.
And there she went again! Finke just posted a particularly venomous attack on Patrick Goldstein, calling him a shill and arguing that her own experience gives her more credibility in international affairs than him. Really unbelievable stuff. And this AFTER the WGA leadership announced a request that their members use restraint in their public comments about this matter. (And the WGA also took the Reality and Animation jurisdiction issues off the table, as they said, to help them get to a speedy conclusion to the negotiations.) Both the AMPTP and the WGA once again put on the news blackout. But that has never applied to Nikki Finke, nor does she seem to understand the purpose of such a thing.
I now believe we are a lot closer to a potential deal between the WGA and the AMPTP. Unless Nikki Finke manages to stir it up again...
Sooooo, Goldstein is a hack for writing his piece, but Finke is a professional journalist for using buzzwords like "shitty", "lying scum" and tosses about accusations of "shill" against anyone that disagrees with her?
And her "Have you not been reading what I've written these many months?" comment make me gag. Uh, Finke? Maybe he *has* read what you've been spewing and just thought a different, and perhaps less biased voice should be heard?
Does she really think she's the be-all and end-all authority on this strike and the issues? If she's such a damn expert, why isn't she in the negotiation room?
Man, I can't stand that woman.
At least she edited her post to correct the spelling errors. (She wrote "Grammies")
Like I said, she needs an editor.
She also edited the title of her attack on Goldstein. It currently reads "Do the Write Thing" But when she first composed it, the title read "You Don't Know What You're Talking About". Please let this strike end soon so that we won't have to hear much more of this stuff. When we're normally working, I really don't care what smack she talks about the execs. That's just annoying and silly. It's a lot harder for me to deal with when it can affect my livelihood and that of all my co-workers.
She's intentionally instigating trouble to stretch out her 15 minutes of fame a little bit longer and seriously screwing with the lives of real families. People like us have everything to lose in this situation and she can only profit from stirring things up. Bad Karma. Maybe someday she'll become a bag lady and perish in a box somewhere and be eaten by stray cats. Not saying I'm hoping for this, that would be bad Karma for me. But life has a way of eventually punishing people who act like assholes. She probably has a pathetic and sorry life. If so, she's earned it. Calling her the bitch that she is is far less out of line than intentionally taking actions that increase the odds that people will lose their homes and accrue insurmountable debt.
Robert Elisberg, assuming that someone didn't just use his name to post, put up a fairly diplomatic denunciation of Nikki Finke's attack on Patrick Goldstein. I believe it really was him posting, and that his response shows that he was as offended as the rest of us by Finke's behavior.
How will Finke spin the latest news from NBCU to make it look like they're doing something "shitty" by NOT canceling previous script orders?
